Buying used coffee & beverage
A traditional espresso machine is the centrepiece of any café. Used machines from La Marzocco, La Spaziale, Fracino and Gaggia let you serve great coffee without the cost of a new machine.

What to check
- Decide on the number of groups: 2 group suits most cafés and 3 group suits very busy sites.
- Check the boiler has been descaled, and use a water filter, because scale is the main cause of faults.
- Make sure the steam wands, hot water outlet and pressure gauges all work.
- Check the power. Smaller machines run on a 13 amp plug, while larger ones need hardwiring or 3-phase.
- Pair it with a good grinder. The grinder matters as much as the machine.

- How long does a used espresso machine last?
- Commercial espresso machines are built to be rebuilt. With regular servicing, descaling and new seals when needed, a good machine can keep going for many years.
